NYJTL BRINGS FOCUS
ON EDUCATION OUT OF SCHOOL
NYJTL Expands Its Educational Guidance to Help Middle School Students in NYJTL Tennis programs to Transition to High School
Now more than ever, the children of New York need guidance and support to achieve their aspirations. NYJTL is rising to this challengeby offering a program that will help prep middle school students for acceptance into prep, parochial, specialized and highly rated community high schools this fall.
With the help of Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) Neighborhood Development Area Grants for five locations in the city, we hope to make a positive impact on over 100 children with tutoring, educational guidance, test prep and tennis.
Future Programs Include larger focus on developing a well-rounded child.
As we go to press, DYCD has announced over $350,000 in annual funds for the next 3 years to provide extended services at 12 NYJTL locations. Selected children will commit and benefit from educational guidance, life skills, chess and tennis provided by NYJTL.
NYJTL will apply the ideals of ArthurAshe to help students discover their unique talents, built on those strengths, improve their academic performance and learn a life-long fitness activity connecting them with the global network of tennis players.
Reading Clubs
Once again, NYJTL's Summer Reading Clubs are bringing the joy of reading to our 50 Community Tennis Centers. The program encourges reading during the summer months and fosters an atmosphere of learning.
